Privacy Policy
The short version: Crossed Off does not collect any data about you. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything you write stays on your device.
This policy explains how the Crossed Off app for iPhone and iPad (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information. It applies to the app, its Home Screen widget and its Lock Screen timer.
1. Information we collect
None. We do not collect, receive, store, sell or share any personal information. The app has no server and makes no network requests of its own, apart from the App Store purchase check described below.
Specifically, the app does not collect:
- your name, email address, phone number or any contact details
- location, contacts, photos, calendar or health data
- device identifiers or advertising identifiers
- usage analytics, crash reports or diagnostics
- the contents of your lists
The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code.
2. What stays on your device
To work, the app saves the following only on your device:
- your lists and the items in them, including estimates and whether they are done
- a record of your focus sessions (task name, start time and length), used for the stats page
- your paper, ink and timer preferences
- whether the Unlock Everything purchase is active, so the widget knows what to show
This data is kept in a storage area shared only between the app and its own widget, so the widget can show your open items. It is never sent to us or anyone else.
If you use iCloud Backup or back up your device to a computer, this data may be included in that backup, which is handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy and your device settings. The app itself does not sync your data through iCloud.
3. In-app purchase
The app offers a one-time “Unlock Everything” purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple ID, payment card or billing address. The app only asks the App Store whether the purchase is active on your Apple ID so it can unlock the paid features. Apple’s handling of purchases is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
4. Lock Screen timer and widget
When you start a focus timer, the app can show a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. The Home Screen widget shows your open items. Both are drawn by iOS on your device from the data already stored there. You can turn Live Activities off at any time in Settings › Crossed Off.
5. Children
The app is suitable for all ages. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country).
6. Deleting your data
You are in full control. You can delete an item or list inside the app at any time (long-press it). Deleting the app from your device permanently removes everything it stored. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
7. Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR (Europe and the UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California) give you rights to access, correct, delete or port personal data a company holds about you, and to opt out of its sale. Since we do not collect or hold any personal data, and never sell or share it, there is nothing to access, export or delete. You are still welcome to contact us with any question.
8. Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, for example by adding an optional sync feature, we will update this page and change the effective date above before that version is released. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the App Store release notes.
